18plus Issues -

alert

Technical -

Please see the eGroups Status report in green below.

From time to time problems occure, members should expect some minor disruptions to service prior to the Yahoo-eGroups merger. Also note human error, if unsure check the help files or ask the moderators before using certain facilities.

eGroups_Status:

We released the new version of the mail server software earlier today, so you should see significantly reduced (if not gone altogether) duplicates from eGroups.

We are still experiencing email delays of 15-30 minute during the day. We are closer to resolving this issue, but we're still working on it.

Also, apparently last friday some sort of network issue caused us to back-log a great deal of email, especially for the larger domains(AOL/Yahoo/Hotmail with some Excite and @Home users as well). This caused mail to those domains to be delayed even longer. We were able to finally catch up with that mail late last night.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Political -

The list has been striped of its national status and support (for what it was worth).

More importantly National Officers have been censored from using the list. The motion voted on by just four NEC members was worded completely differently from how the NEC was ORDERED to interpret it.

A motion saying "National status is removed from the 18plus list" is entirely different from something actually stating - for example - "National Officers are proscribed from using the 18plus list". The latter also being an infringement on peoples right to free speech.

Members who object to this and support 18plus should contact or write to their Area Chairman or the National Chairman.

To find out more and/or protest this decision post a message to your Area Chairman or the (temporary) National Chairman via the Head Office: 8-10 Church Street Chambers, Church Street, Newent, Glous. GL18-1PP.

Or via email - office@18plus.org.uk
